The restaurants at West Street Market are top notch, and we’re spending some time talking up every last one of them. Today, we shine the spotlight on The DeLuxe, dubbed by Johnathan Wright of RGJ Taste fame as one of the area’s two best new restaurants in 2017.
The Back Story
Midtown’s old Cafe Deluxe is reborn, and The DeLuxe at West Street Market is better than ever. If you haven’t been in yet, picture it: a funky galley/counter space with black-trimmed wood planks, cozy counter seating, and tables spread out in the interior courtyard of the market. A big menu board lay out the day’s offerings. In a word (or three) – convenient, cool, relaxed.
The Menu
A pared-down version from the cafe, this menu is tighter and cleaner – a curated offering of dishes expertly prepared with local, organic ingredients. Does that sound like marketing jargon? It shouldn’t. The menu at the DeLuxe is just done well – these guys are pros when it comes to building and layering textures and flavors.
Case in point – kimchi tacos. These babies are a mouthwatering compilation of corn tortillas, kimchi, cilantro, house taco sauce, a sprinkling of toasted seasame seeds, and your choice of protein or veggie alternative. And they. are. amazing.
Other goodies? Classic bahn mi, vegan french toast, hand salads, and kids’ meals that may make the adults jealous. So good. But don’t our word for it. Hundreds of reviewers on Yelp, Google, and Facebook rank The DeLuxe thisclose to five stars.
The Specifics
Vegans and vegetarians, rejoice! Folks interested in eating nutritious, whole foods, you can celebrate too! The DeLuxe is all about good food done well – a plant-based, scratch kitchen that can happily accommodate vegan and/or gluten-free preferences. That’s a tall order, but this place makes it look easy.
The DeLuxe is proud to partner with the DROPP program to source local ingredients. All menu items are gluten-free, with the exception of the bahn mi, and gluten-free bread is available upon request.
The Takeaway
Eating clean isn’t always easy to do – unless you’re eating at The DeLuxe. And then, you have the benefit of nutrition that’s downright delicious.
Check out The DeLuxe right over here for hours, the full menu, and a few pictures that’ll tantalize the taste buds. And check them out at the West Street Market next time lunch or dinner rolls around.
The best new restaurant of 2017 is on track to be the best of 2018 – come in and see why.
